The Durham Ox
DESCRIPTION
Three hundred years old, and family owned for the last nine, the Durham Ox was recently named "AA Pub of the Year, England" 2007/8, Freehouse of the Year 2008 by The Publican and most recently Yorkshire Pub of the Year at The White Rose Awards in September 2008 .
We pride ourselves on offering friendly and efficient service; showcasing the best of local produce in our menu, as well as stocking an extensive range of wines and cask ales.
We are situated in the historic village of Crayke, with breathtaking views over the vale of York on three sides, and a charming view up the hill to the medieval Church. Crayke is less than 20 minutes from York City Centre, and in the heart of Herriot Country. We are well placed for visits to Castle Howard, the walled gardens at Scampston, Byland Abbey and other stately homes and historic sites.
The Durham Ox is an award winning traditonal pub complete with flag stone floors, exposed beams, oak panelling and roaring fires in the main bar during the winter.
For comfortable accommodation there are four converted farm cottages that provide a peaceful and charming place to stay, with their exposed brickwork, and original quarry tiles. The Durham Ox is the ideal country get away, with easy access to York and up on to the Moors and Coast.
Our rooms are renovated farm cottages, all comfortably furnished and very cosy; the larger are split over two floors and have a double and twin bedroom, Jacuzzi bathroom, comfortable sitting room and galley kitchen; the smaller are double en suite rooms with seating area.
Privacy, comfort and luxury are priorities, within a personal, attentive and friendly environment.

Breakfast is served 8 am - 9.30 am Monday to Friday and 8 am -10 am Saturday and Sunday. Please do let us know in advance if you require breakfast outside of these times.
All accommodation has a television/video, CD player, tea and coffee tray, hair dryer and individually controlled heating. L'Occitane products are provided in all the rooms. Sofa beds are available in some rooms at an additional charge of £30 (including breakfast).
