VISIT Easingwold- Yorkshire at its best

Get involved with the Easingwold Players!

A play does not exist with actors alone, a large back stage team is required for set construction, so much easier with the permanent stage, lighting, sound, costumes, props needed, where can the Players get the painting the set and scenery, front of house help, so many jobs to be done in connection with a production or a show.

Anyone interested can let the Players secretary, Susan Rinaldi-Butcher know, telephone 01347 822733, but full details of dates and venues will appear in the summer.

The Players also arrange theatre trips, anyone interested in going should leave their details at the Galtres Centre office.

The Players also carry out training for young actors and all aspects of drama on a weekly basis and held at the Galtres Centre.

All in all, a centre of excellence for rural arts and the local community!

Latest news: 09.02.2010

The Easingwold Drama Group, having just completed their latest production “’Allo Allo”, are now busy starting rehearsals for its next play “The Boy Who Fell in to a Book”, by Alan Ayckbourn, to be presented at the Galtres Centre on March 3-6th/ 2010 at 7:30pm.

Tickets are on sale from the Galtres Centre box office, telephone 01347 822472, open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm., £8 for adults and children £5.

The play is cast, the production team is arranged, so for the next few weeks it is down to twice weekly rehearsals with the director, Phil Grainger, putting the cast and crew through its paces.

The play conveys a great message, the value of reading and the power of the imagination to transport the reader to other worlds. And suitable for all ages from nine to ninety!

It is a fantastic journey through a whole shelf of books with a very challenging setting for the play.

The Players follow with Peter Shaffer’s  “Lettice and Lovage” to be presented at the Galtres Centre on June 16th to 19th at 7:30pm. and ticket prices same as for the Ayckbourn play.

The play was originally written for Dame Maggie Smith and its two-year run won many awards. Described as ‘a very English piece’ as far as humour and references are concerned, it is a very witty and funny play.

And what will the Players be presenting in November 2010?  Watch the “Advertiser” for an announcement and another big production.

The Players also arrange theatre trips, the last one being “The Sound of Music’ at Sunderland Empire in December last year when nearly 150 theatre folk attended, and the next one will be Brian Conley in “Hairspray” at Leeds Grand Theatre in June.

Coaches from Easingwold, dropping off outside the theatre and picking up after the show and returning with no worries about parking, have been arranged to see this show that is the ultimate feel good factor, telling the story of Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart as she sets out to follow her extraordinary dream, inspire her mum, and win the boy she loves.

“Hairspray” is the musical with everything, playing to sold-out houses in London, on Broadway, and theatres around the globe.

A few places are still available for June 30th with excellent discounts, anyone interested in going should leave their personal details at the Galtres Centre office.

The usual theatre trip to Scarborough in summer will also take place.

All the Easingwold Players shows are advertised in the “Advertiser”.
