
NOEL COWARD, RAILWAYS, STRING QUARTET
The Galtres Centre, Easingwold, has three interesting presentations appearing very soon.
Friday, January 15th at 7:30pm in the intimacy of the lounge, there is an illustrated talk by David Goodwin on the "Master", Noel Coward, with extracts from his plays and songs.
A prolific writer, he was also a very accomplished actor appearing in the war time classic "In Which We Serve".
A fun evening, he retains an incredible hold on the world's cultural history, his list of achievements in the field of artistic production is prolific, and will be an entertaining ramble through his life and work and includes renditions of his songs, poems, and excerpts from his plays.
Not many people realise he wrote "Brief Encounter", but under the title 'Still Life'.

Railway enthusiasts are in for a treat on Friday January 22nd at 7:30pm when John Gilks will give an illustrated talk covering lines from York post war, the effect of Dr.Beeching, and mention of the Easingwold branch line, as well as many more details of local railway.
Tickets are £8 adults and £5 for children.
Friday, February 5th at 7:30pm and the first of what is hoped to be many more classical music events, with the appearance of the Heath String Quartet.
This highly successful young quartet have performed across Europe, London, Edinburgh, and have won many prestigious competitions, and were formed in 2002 at the Royal College of Music, and studied at the Reina Sofia in Madrid, and later this year take up a residency at the Banff centre in Canada.
They will be playing Beethoven's String Quartet in F, Tippett's String Quartet No. 2 in F, and Debussy's quartet in G minor.
Tickets are available now price £17 adults and £12 children, and the players will be introducing the programme on the evening.
All tickets have been sold for the two evenings telling the story of the Vulcan bomber raid on the Falklands.
Also, the Pam Ayres evening on March 22nd sold out within two weeks of going on sale.
