First-time visitors cannot help but be charmed by this attractive stone house. Newburgh sits behind a beautifully manicured topiary hedge with private parking facilities to the side and a beautiful, traditional walled garden and vegetable garden to the rear.

The welcoming reception you will receive from your hosts Colin and Suzy Bell sets the tone for a totally relaxing and memorable stay. Guest comfort is a priority and a real sense of warmth pervades the comfortable, traditionally furnished book-lined sitting room, even when the large fire is not alight!

The Location

The word idyllic could have been coined for such a location, an area steeped in history and home to James Herriot. Numerous attractions can be found nearby such as Newburgh Priory, Shandy Hall, the abbeys of Byland, Rievaulx and Fountains, Castle Howard, Nunnington, Benningborough and Newby Halls. Several racecourses are close at hand, as are various antique and art exhibitions whilst York is just 16 miles away.

How to find Newburgh House Bed & Breakfast (B&B)

Take the A1 North, bypass Boroughbridge on the A168 to Thirsk. Bypass Thirsk, joining the A19 South to York. After 2 miles on the A19 you come to a sign showing Coxwold, Byland Abbey & Helmsley - turn left to Coxwold. After 4 miles you enter the village at the top end passing the pub to your left. Head down the hill, over the crossroads and after a quarter of a mile you will see a lake on your left. Newburgh is the first house on the left past the lake.

Accommodation comprises of three substantial double bedrooms at first floor level, all with delightful views over the grounds.

Bedroom 1: A twin room bright and airy with original features and a private bathroom.

Bedrooms 2 and 3: double bedrooms with en-suite facilities, one with an exceptionally large en-suite bathroom with separate shower cubicle.

Period bedside lights give the rooms a soft charm and relaxing style. The sitting areas have soft furnishings. All rooms come with a hospitality tray, television, video, hairdryer and trouser press.

A substantial breakfast from an extensive varied breakfast menu is served in the breakfast room with period furnishings, overlooking the large rear garden.

Optional evening dinner is served in the cosy dining room after which you can unwind in the large sitting room/library with its open fire. You can then wind your way upstairs at the end of the day, knowing that your stay at Newburgh House will be a good one.

It's a fact

In the summer, come into Easingwold Market Square for the annual Easingwold Fair. Starting with a public Fun Run organised the Town Scouts, followed by a festival and Brass Band Concert organised by the local Lions club, with the bands marching around the Market Square well into the evening!
