VISIT Easingwold- Yorkshire at its best

Belly Dancing Classes at the Galtres Centre

Arabic Dance (or bellydance) is a beautiful ancient art form which gives expression to female strength and sensuality. It is popular worldwide and appeals to women from a variety of cultural backgrounds.

Traditionally learned within the family and performed at weddings and social gatherings in the Middle East the dance has become increasingly popular in the West as an effective and enjoyable exercise accessible to women of all ages, shapes and sizes.

I have been belly-dancing for 10 years and teaching for 2 years. I first went along to a class just to see what it was all about and I was hooked. It's great fun, a good way to meet people and socialise. Belly-dance is relaxing and low impact on your joints.

It can be as energetic, or not, as you want it to be. I want everyone to leave my classes smiling so come and give it a go! The classes are suitable for complete beginners and improvers and you will dance to a variety of different music styles from across the Middle East and learn dance posture and technique. Amaze your partner!

Thursdays 7-8pm. All abilities and ages welcome. Cost is £4.00 per session. Tutor Larissa Collins.

It's a fact

Squadron Leader Jack Currie DFC, the famous bomber pilot, who wrote the greatest wartime book about bombing operations during WW2 is buried in Easingwold Church Yard. He settled at Easingwold because he was then an instructor at the Home Office Civil Defence School, Hawkhills, nearby. He wrote his book over many years whilst enjoying a pint in the George Hotel and was a very likeable local character and his description of flying on bombing missions is unparalleled. He was also featured in a BBC Documentary titled \"The Lancaster Legend\".
